A HARD-WON PLEASURE

   

😋Hi there,          

             We all have different memorable events in life. One of the most memorable events of my life was winning the All Island School music Competition in 2019 😋. We went to Colombo from Badulla on 11th of October 2019 to participate in the competition which was held on 13th of October 2019 at a famous school in Colombo. Because, on 12th of October I had to participate in another group singing competition. What I am going to note here is how I overcame the obstacles I had to win the competition, rather than the way I won the competition.👀 We went to Colombo by our school bus. Our music teacher, my mother, few of other teachers in our school and 23 of students participated in the journey. After the competition on 12th of October, the other 22 students and the teachers except music teacher left for Badulla to return, leaving me, my mother and music teacher at the gate of Maharagama NIE. This is where the problems started.🙆 When we went to NIE we had no idea how to get accommodation there.😬 So we asked the security guard at the entrance. At once he said that accommodation would not be provided without an acknowledgement was given.😟 But to the best of our knowledge the principal had informed NIE about us. But we had no inwritten document about it. Somehow we tried a lot and met the hostel manager. 😩 My mother was a little sick that day because of travel fatigue. We wondered what would happen if we were not given the permission to stay at there. I was a little scared😰. We are not familiar with Colombo area, no one even knows. But fortunately after our explanation we got accommodation😐. We had to stay there one night. And here begins our next problem. It was a day before a holiday. We had to walk a lot to find something to eat for dinner and for the next morning. 😕 We just could find only 6 hoppers and 3 packets of milk. It was a very tiring and stressful day😖. Exhausted,  my mother and teacher lay down on the beds and slept. They did not even have their dinner. I am pretty tired too. I took my dinner and went to bed. Because the next day I have a big job. But sleep is nowhere near me. I woke up with the sound of mosquitoes singing and the voices of people in other rooms, and I spent the whole night thinking about the difficulties my mother and teacher were going through because of me😢. I asked God the same thing all night. " Please God, do not injustice to this effort that my mother and teacher get for me." 😓🙏 Somehow my wish came true. No matter what the trouble, I won the competition😊. I learned a lot of things from that journey. I saw a lot of good and bad qualities in people. And after this journey, I began to have a strong belief in what my conscience told me. I also realized that if our objective is good, we can overcome any obstacle and move on. I think I actually participated in that competition and not only got an appreciation for my talent, but also an appreciation for my life. I have a great respect for my mother and teacher.
